You may have heard our purple percussion rhythms in a demonstration, or us busking on a street corner, chanting in a march, dancing in the street. Do you want to play samba-inspired percussion and support movements for social change? Want to be part of Toronto’s social change soundtrack? Anyone can do it, no experience required …and we need YOU!
Who we are:
Rhythms of Resistance Toronto is a musical activist collective that plays drums to support demonstrations, direct actions and other social movement events. We are part of a transnational network of groups that use street drumming and tactical frivolity and other creative stuff for political action, to make our justice movements louder and more creative!
We are looking for:
People with diverse identities, backgrounds and abilities interested in playing for environmental and social justice actions regularly in Toronto. We need new members to be available to come on a regular basis to our rehearsals: Thursday nights from 6:30-9pm in Parkdale.
